Yesterday, Jacob turned one month old. It is crazy how fast time goes and how quickly babies grow and change. Some milestones from this past month:
- Can roll from his belly to his back
- He loves to suck on his hands and/or pacifier, actually really anything. If he's hungry, he will latch onto your arm or neck or anything he can get his mouth on. I learned that when I was carrying him downstairs to feed him and the next thing I knew, my neck was all slobbery because he was trying to suck on it. Ah, babies!
- He sleeps really well. We're still working on getting his schedule down. He tries to sleep through his last few daytime feedings but wakes up really well for his middle of the night feeding. It should be the other way around. It will happen eventually. But, he goes down for his naps and at night. We're down to very minimal fussing and rarely ever crying when he goes down.
- He is much more alert when he's awake, usually about an hour or so at a time. This makes feeding him much easier.
- He is in 0-3 month clothes now and most of them are just barely long enough for his torso. He is a LONG boy. Unfortunately, he doesn't really wear bottoms very often because the 0-3 month ones are either too big or barely fit around his waist. If this keeps up, I'll probably be having to make him pants in order for them to fit both his waist and legs length.
- He gave his first deliberate smile yesterday. I was talking to him and smiled at him and he smiled back. This may have been a fluke because it hasn't happened again since, but we're getting there. He has such a cute smile.
- We are getting sleep a little at a time and trying to figure out this parenting thing one day at a time, but we love this little boy and wouldn't have it any other way.
Now its time for one month photo shoot:
and this happened about 2 minutes after we finished the photo shoot:
